Code of Conduct and Anti-Harassment Policy
Tesla Owners Club of Ohio · Effective June 2026
Tesla Owners Club of Ohio is a community of drivers, families, and EV-curious neighbors. We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment at every event, online forum, chapter meetup, and communication channel we operate.
This Code of Conduct applies to all members, guests, volunteers, organizers, sponsors, vendors, and anyone participating in club activities — online or in person.
1. Expected Behavior
We ask everyone in our community to:
- Treat others with kindness, patience, and respect — regardless of vehicle, experience level, or background
- Welcome new owners, future owners, and EV-curious guests
- Drive safely, follow all traffic laws, and respect venues and properties
- Be honest in communications, photos, and event recaps
- Respect the privacy of other members — never share personal info, addresses, or photos without consent
- Listen when someone says they're uncomfortable, and adjust accordingly
- Defer to organizers and volunteers at events for safety and logistics decisions
2. Zero-Tolerance Behavior
The following behaviors are prohibited at all club events, online spaces, and member-to-member interactions tied to the club. Violations may result in immediate removal and a permanent ban.
- Harassment of any kind — verbal, physical, sexual, written, or online
- Discrimination or hateful conduct based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, body type, or appearance
- Threats, intimidation, stalking, or following
- Unwanted sexual attention, comments, advances, or imagery
- Doxxing — publishing or sharing private information (home address, license plate, workplace, phone number, family details) without explicit consent
- Recording, photographing, or filming individuals who have asked not to be recorded
- Reckless or unsafe driving, street racing, or showing off in ways that endanger others
- Drug or alcohol impairment while operating a vehicle at a club event
- Possession of weapons at club events unless lawfully carried by on-duty law enforcement
- Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern or assists in an investigation
- Use of the club name, logo, or member list for unauthorized commercial, political, or personal purposes
3. Event-Specific Rules
Our events take place on private property, public roads, racetracks, charging stations, and partner venues. Each environment has its own rules, and participants must:
- Follow all venue, parking lot, and event-organizer instructions
- Obey posted speed limits and traffic signals — even at car shows and parades
- Respect non-member patrons at charging stations; never block stalls for photos or social activities longer than necessary
- Keep children supervised at all times
- Clean up after yourself — leave every venue better than you found it
- Follow track rules, helmet requirements, and safety briefings at any performance event
4. Online Conduct
Our website, email lists, chat groups, social media accounts, and any club-affiliated online spaces are extensions of our community. Online conduct is held to the same standard as in-person conduct.
- No spam, scams, MLM solicitations, or unauthorized advertising
- No impersonation of other members, organizers, or Tesla, Inc.
- No sharing of misinformation about vehicle safety, charging, or club activities
- Political and religious debates are not the focus of this club; please keep discussion EV-, Tesla-, and community-focused
- Screenshots and reposts of private conversations require consent from those involved
5. Reporting a Concern
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it. You have three options:
- Email conduct@teslaownersoh.com — goes to club leadership only
- Use the confidential form below — you may submit anonymously
- Speak directly to any organizer or chapter lead at an event
All reports are taken seriously. We will acknowledge receipt within 72 hours when contact information is provided, and we will treat the matter with discretion. We do not share reporter identity beyond the small group of leaders involved in resolution unless required by law.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 first.
6. Investigation & Enforcement
Reports are reviewed by club leadership. Depending on severity, frequency, and context, possible actions include:
- A private conversation and verbal warning
- A formal written warning
- Removal from a specific event or online space
- Suspension of membership for a set period
- Permanent ban from the club, its events, and its communication channels
- Reporting to law enforcement when conduct may be criminal
We reserve the right to act immediately, including removing someone from an event, when safety is at risk. Decisions are made by club leadership and are final.
7. Anti-Retaliation
Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern, supports a reporter, or participates in an investigation is itself a violation of this Code and is grounds for removal from the club.
8. Photos, Recording & Consent
Photos and video are common at club events and may be used for recaps, social media, and sponsor reporting. If you ask not to be photographed, organizers will make reasonable efforts to honor that — but crowd, background, and aerial shots cannot always be avoided.
Never record or photograph anyone in a private setting (restrooms, changing areas, private homes) without explicit consent.
9. Sponsors, Vendors & Partners
Sponsors and vendors operating at our events are expected to follow this Code. Sponsorship does not exempt anyone from these rules. Concerns about sponsor or vendor behavior can be reported through the same channels above.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Code of Conduct as the club grows. Material changes will be announced through our newsletter and posted on this page with a revised effective date.
11. Acknowledgment
By participating in club events, joining as a member, or using our website and communication channels, you acknowledge that you have read this Code of Conduct and agree to abide by it.
Thank you for helping keep Tesla Owners Club of Ohio safe, welcoming, and fun for everyone.
