Breakaway Charging Adapter
A breakaway adapter that sits between your Tesla and a Supercharger or J1772 handle. If a situation at a charging stall ever turns unsafe, you can drive away in seconds — the adapter releases cleanly instead of damaging the cable or your charge port. Tesla Owners Club of Ohio members save 30%.

What EVject does
EVject is a small breakaway adapter that connects between your Tesla (or J1772-compatible EV) and the charging handle. Under normal use it behaves exactly like a passthrough. When you need to leave fast, you can pull away and the adapter splits at the breakaway point — protecting the cable, the connector, and your charge port.
For Ohio Tesla owners who travel I-71, I-75, I-77 and I-70 late at night — or who park at urban Superchargers like Cincinnati's downtown stalls or Columbus city sites — it's a low-cost peace-of-mind item, especially for family members and newer drivers.
What it does NOT do
EVject is a safety release for unusual situations. It is not a replacement for normal charging etiquette, it does not change charging speed, and you should never use it to interrupt a session in the middle of a busy bank. Always end the charge in the Tesla app first when you can.
Why owners get one — in their own words
"I was at a Tesla charging station in downtown Calgary and a sketchy fellow stood in front of my car for a bit, then walked back up to my passenger door, pulled a rock out of his pocket and started scratching my door. I was unable to drive away because I was charging."
"I was very worried about traveling late at night with my teenage daughters in shady charging spots. I'm looking forward to using it. Thank you."
"My teen daughter just bought a Model 3, and I am going to feel much better knowing she has this — and now I can keep one in my car also."
